We are excited to come together as women to learn and discuss the beautiful gift of femininity! We will compare and contrast a secular work on femininity with a sacred one. Mulieris Dignitatem (On the Dignity and Vocation of Woman) by St. John Paul II will provide the lens through which we discuss whether or not Cinderella Ate My Daughter.
The retreat will last from 9 am until 2pm.
Lunch will be potluck; if you are able, please bring something to share!
We will begin by discussing the first chapter of Cinderella Ate My Daughter by Peggy Orenstein. It is strongly recommended that you read this short chapter in preparation for our time together. Mulieris Dignitatem, a much richer and more dense piece of work, is recommended in its entirety though we will primarily be discussing paragraphs 6-10, 14, 22 & 28-31. Happy Reading! Please also note that the content and discussion will be most appropriate for adult women.
Cost: $10 (Donation to help cover speaker's fee. Please bring cash or check the day of the retreat!)
Time away from busy-ness, stimulating conversation, strengthened relationships, smiles, & laughter--PRICELESS!
Ramie Samour, head of Clarity Apostolate, will be leading the retreat. Clarity is a Catholic Apostolate made up of women dedicated to ongoing personal formation and reflection on the gift of femininity. The fruit of this communal study is an effort to offer these truths to others by means of programming that is aimed to inspire, educate and empower the "whole" woman - body, mind & spirit - in her vocation to love.
